A little more detail on choosing a piece, making it yours and what happens next.

How does buying a made-to-order diamond ring online actually work?
Every Avelyngold piece is made to order. Choose a catalogue piece, or tell us your brief for a bespoke design. We confirm the design, materials and price before making begins. Catalogue production takes 10–14 business days, bespoke commissions 3–5 weeks, and fully custom designs 6–10 weeks. Delivery is additional: standard 3–7 business days or express 2–3 after dispatch.
The process is deliberately personal for an online brand. Browse the catalogue and check the selected piece’s materials, photographs and any grading report before you decide, or book a private consultation by video or phone — we serve customers Australia-wide. Nothing is cast, set or polished until the design, the stone and the price are confirmed with you. From there a single ring passes through several pairs of hands — the setter who secures the stone, the polisher who finishes the metal, and a final quality checker who signs it off — which is why a made-to-order piece takes a few weeks rather than coming off a shelf. When your piece passes that final check, it ships with Australia Post signature-on-delivery, tracked and insured for 100% of its value from the moment it leaves our hands, and you receive a tax invoice and a live tracking link by email the instant it dispatches.
Are Avelyngold diamonds certified, and how do you verify a certificate?
Every loose diamond we list carries an independent GIA or IGI report. That is not a blanket promise that every stone in every finished piece has an individual grading report. Read the selected piece’s specifications and ask us to confirm which reports are included before you decide.
A grading report describes the identified stone’s characteristics, measurements and report number. Verify that number with the issuing laboratory and compare the report with the stone’s listed specifications. If a laser inscription is supplied, ask how it will be matched to the report. A grading report and a jewellery valuation serve different purposes: one records a stone’s grades, while the other concerns the finished piece. Our Journal’s buying guides explain the 4Cs and how to compare the details.
Lab-grown or natural — how should you choose?
Choose on budget and meaning, not on quality — lab-grown and natural diamonds are chemically and optically identical, graded on the same 4Cs scale by the same laboratories, and both rate a perfect 10 on the Mohs hardness scale. A natural stone carries a rarity premium; a lab-grown stone delivers the same brilliance and durability for considerably less.
A natural diamond formed over a billion years ago, roughly 150 kilometres beneath the earth's surface under extreme heat and pressure, before ancient volcanic activity carried it up to where it could be mined; a lab-grown stone recreates those same conditions of heat and pressure in a controlled chamber over a matter of weeks. The result is the same crystal. So the decision comes down to three questions. Does the romance of that billion-year-old origin matter to you? Would a larger or higher-grade stone within the same budget matter more? And do you care how the rarity premium behaves over time? We can discuss both origins for your brief. Ask us to confirm availability, the stone’s specification and the grading report that would accompany it. A private consultation can put suitable options side by side for your budget.
What does the Lifetime Promise actually cover?
Four things, for the life of the piece: a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, free lifetime ring resizing, a complimentary clean and polish every 12 months — including a rhodium top-up on white gold — and a trade-up credit when you're ready for something larger. Read the Lifetime Promise terms for the scope of each service and ask us how they apply to your selected piece.
The warranty covers the failures that are genuinely our responsibility: loose or lost prongs from substandard setting, solder joints that give way, and structural cracking in the band. Free lifetime resizing covers the natural way a finger changes shape over the years, and the rhodium top-up keeps white gold bright as its plating wears. What the warranty does not cover is accidental damage, loss or theft — ask your insurer which valuation documents and level of cover they require for your selected piece. The complete terms live on our Lifetime Promise page, alongside a side-by-side comparison with what a typical Australian jeweller actually offers.
How do delivery and returns work?
Every order ships Australia-wide, fully insured and tracked, with a signature required on delivery. Shipping is free on orders over $500. Standard delivery takes 3–7 business days after dispatch and express takes 2–3. If a standard catalogue piece isn't right, you have 30 days from delivery to return it for a full refund.
Returns are deliberately simple: email us within 30 days, we issue a free pre-paid Australia Post label, and your refund is processed within 5 business days of the piece arriving back. Every parcel — outbound and return — travels fully insured with a signature required on delivery, so a piece worth thousands of dollars is never in transit unprotected. Bespoke commissions and engraved pieces are excluded from change-of-mind returns because they are made uniquely for you and cannot simply be re-sold — though nothing in our policy limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law if an item is faulty. We currently deliver within Australia only, to any residential or business address Australia Post reaches.
Why buy from an online-only jeweller with no showroom?
Because you're paying for the stone and the craftsmanship, not the storefront. Avelyngold is online-only and made-to-order by design: there is no showroom or high-street lease built into our prices, no display stock to move, and every piece begins only when a customer commissions it.
What replaces the showroom is evidence. Listed loose diamonds have an independent report and stone specifications; finished jewellery has its own materials, images and any included grading report, so you are weighing exactly what a gemologist would weigh rather than trusting a salesperson under flattering light. Consultations happen by video or phone, wherever you are in Australia, at a time that suits you. And if you find the identical GIA- or IGI-certified stone — same carat, colour, clarity, cut and certificate — for less at an authorised Australian retailer, our price-match guarantee applies: send us the listing and we'll confirm a matched price in writing within 4 business hours. Online-only isn't a compromise; it is how we put the savings from carrying no showroom and no display stock back into the stone itself.
